Read MoreWe have had a blast with this beer collaboration! When we sat down with our old friends at Catawba Brewing, both their Founder, Billy Pyatt, and their Head Brewer, Dave Cobb, They asked us what kind of beer we were thinking of brewing. With our interest in more sessionable styles, and thinking about Catawba's line-up, this is where the fun started — and ours worlds collided. Ultimately, we landed on an APA — one of the first styles that helped the craft revolution get back on track in the 1980s and became a staple in the1990s. So we set out to come up with the recipe, Catawba procured the ingredients and the games began.
Read MoreOur friends across craft breweries have been instrumental in our start-up. And core to that is the local community that we all call home. They are the organizations in our community that carry the load of making our neighborhoods better and safer places to live. We’re one big community, and craft breweries have the potential to be strong partners for non-profit organizations. So, naturally when it came time to release our first beer, Worlds Collide, in the Catawba Tasting Room, both breweries wanted a community partner to benefit from the proceeds. The choice was simple…

Read MoreWhen it came time to pick a construction partner, finding a firm that brought excellence in building breweries was a must. After all, there are more than fifty in the Charlotte area alone, and a construction crew behind every bar built. But there’s one firm that stood out in our search. Gais Construction had a hand in bringing many local breweries and restaurants into business, and we’re proud to say they’ve been involved with Lost Worlds from the beginning.
Read MoreOver the past few months, our crew has been to a variety of events to continue our beer industry education. Our brewing team has gone to a couple of very intense technical brewing conferences (yes, even DG, a long-time brewer, still has a thirst for knowledge, and beer too, but that’s another story…). To cap off the year, it all culminated with the North Carolina Craft Brewers Conference, of which we are proud members. We brought a team of four people and took a divide and conquer approach in order to hit as many learning sessions as we could over the course of three days.
Read MoreSoon everyday will be a brew day for Harrison Holder, who recently joined the team at Lost Worlds Brewery as Assistant Brewer. He was headed toward a career as a Physical Therapist when he took a left turn at the tap house. After home brewing for fun, and a short course in brewing at Appalachian State University, Lost Worlds Brewery found its way into his long-term plan.
Read MoreIt’s one thing to brew great beer and entirely another to open a full-scale brewery. With the winning combination of their business backgrounds and love of homebrewing (they were both homebrewers before they met 20-years ago), Dave and Allison Hamme are in the midst of opening Lost Worlds Brewery in the town they call home.
Read MoreRecently our Brew Crew went out to find an adventure, which laded them across state line to spend a day with our good friends at Rock Hill Brewing Company (RHBC). A few months back DG, our Director of Brewing, was out and about doing research and stopped into RHBC. He struck up a conversation with their Brewmaster, Jerod Jones, to find that our Deutsche brew systems are very similar. So, in the cooperative and fraternal spirit, Jerod invited DG and the rest of the Lost Worlds brew crew to come down and see the system in action.
Read MoreRecently, we were honored and humbled to be the guest brewery at a Brew Day event at Deutsche Beverage Technology at their headquarters in Charlotte, NC. We shared the brew stand with our new partner, Deutsche, and spent the day brewing a batch of Session Pale Ale. This truly epitomizes what the spirit of craft beer is about: camaraderie and cooperation.
Read MoreDavid Gonzalez’s passion for craft beer was ignited in the mid- 1990s while working a summer job at a bottle shop on Long Island, where he was raised. Gonzalez would sample and evaluate all the different styles of beer among the few hundred or so varieties sold in the shop. You could say it was this initial exposure to the growing craft industry that launched his career. Well, maybe that… and a sweatshirt.
